EITC/VITA Campaign Kick-Off

Monday, January 25, 2010

"Get The Word Out." This was the overarching mandate held forth at the January 25, 2010 Providence EITC/VITA Coalition Kick-Off press conference at John Hope Settlement House, a well attended event despite the predicted heavy downpours (which did indeed come, and with a vengeance...). Sharing the podium with John Hope President & CEO Peter D. Lee were Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, Mayor David N. Cicilline, Residents Vivian Morenos and DeeDee Brown, United Way of Rhode Island President & CEO Tony Maione, and IRS SPEC Area 1 Director Frederick McElligott. Each called on those in attendance, those watching on TV, and those reading in tomorrow morning's newspaper, to do all they could to become involved, to strongly encourage eligible residents to take part in this incredible public benefit, to volunteer their personal and professional time and expertise, and to encourage more banks and funders to contribute. Above, from left to right are Resident Speakers DeeDee Brown and Vivian Morenos, and the Honorable Mayor David N. Cicilline.
